since i received the very exciting news that finny and sable are bound to arrive home on monday, i figured there were some things i wanted to try out before their arrival. first, i wanted to try my hand at making a wig from yarn. also, i made poor hugo my test subject and every time i turned his head around to fix the front i couldn't help but feel guilty that i was putting him through such a girly task. sorry, hugo!

it was simple but very time consuming. each strand of yarn had to be unwound and brushed until it was frizzy, then it had to be straightened, glued into a weft, and then glued onto the wigcap i made the night prior. the yarn shed like crazy, too!
this was the fallout from making the few wefts on the wig! it was a huge pile on my desk that just seemed to continue growing.
the end result was better than i thought it would look. i'd been eyeing some "mohair" wigs on etsy that were about 50 and the supplies i needed to buy for this project were only 10 and i have plenty more yarn to make more wigs.
i know to be more careful with the placement of the wefts now because in some angles you can see the hot glue peeking through. it was my first try, though, so i'm not super upset with that.
this wig is actually supposed to be for finny when she arrives back home on monday so i hope it fits her head. she's about the same size as hugo (i think) so i think it should work. i still have a few things on my list but i'm not sure if i'll get to it today.

wire the joints for my 1/4 dolls
make jewelry for finny and sable
possibly re-string and body blush the 1/4 RS bodies?
