history 

my first mandarake buy and one that i hadn't been planning for. i stumbled across him on mandarake and immediately fell in love with his melancholy sculpting and aura but had no outfit or wig for him when he arrived so my initial excitement fell flat. since then, i've had trouble bonding with him but i began redoing his faceup in hopes of liking him more. his name was inspired by old-fashioned names to reflect his personality upon arrival.

since writing these thoughts, unfortunately, hugo has been stuck in limbo. i removed his redone faceup (too orange) and he's been stuck on my shelf without a proper name, identity, clothing, or eyes. i suppose i can try one last faceup on him and see if i click with him better. otherwise, he's the only male-looking doll in my collection and may fit in better with a different collection.

since writing these thoughts, odette was born. i redid her faceup and softened her features
