i've been wanting to redo mallory's faceup ever since i received her but was too scared because she was my most expensive doll. since i've been working with modifying my dolls more heavily, i felt confident enough to do her makeup. i figured if i totally hated it, i could always retry, or, worst case scenario, ship her to a professional!
this is her before. her company face up is fine but i prefer custom faceups so that the dolls feel more unique and special to me. there were a few things i didn't love about her faceup, too.
step 1 was to remove everything
doing some underpainting (putting down sheer layers of primary colors)
adding some more depth..
adding some detail and skin texture..
and more
doing the eyeliner + adding mica shimmer..
done! i'm really happy with how it came out. she's a more cartoonish sculpt so without eyeliner she looked a bit flat. i like the new skin texture and i'm excited to take pictures with her when her final outfit and wig arrive. (hopefully next week?)
the end result! the picture isn't very good but i think it conveys the vibe of her new makeup pretty well! it's much softer than her company faceup!
