i've been wanting to try out body blushing but wasn't sure where to start, especially on a double jointed doll. this morning, i decided to try my hand at doing a blush up on sable's hands, since she has the palest and most plain skin out of all my dolls.
i took off her hands and held her stringing in place with some wooden dowels (i really need to buy some hemostats).Â
then, i did my usual double coat of MSC on the resin and let it dry while i went to run errands.
the before pictures aren't very good (i forgot to change my lens) but you can see that her resin is really pale and completely flat
even the areas that sculpting, like her palm, are so dull that it's hard to appreciate the details. so, after 3(ish) layers of pastels & MSC along with some acrylic and vallejo gloss paint...
finally, you can see the details! the soft layers of blushing added a whole bunch of dimension to her hands and i'm so proud of how it turned out.
the end result! i'm really proud of how it turned out and i went with something more subtle so that it blended in better with the rest of her unblushed body. i'd really like to work on adding more dimension to the rest of her body but i'm not really sure where to start. off to youtube!
